General information about the calls
In 2023, the Tromsø Research Foundation signed a collaboration agreement with its sister foundation in Bergen – the Trond Mohn Foundation – to carry out its own UiT initiative to support high-quality research projects at UiT. The Trond Mohn Foundation sets aside annual financial frameworks for the UiT initiative, and the Tromsø Research Foundation will identify and develop research projects worthy of support within this framework.
Every other year the foundation announces the TFS Starting Grant in a two-step application process.
- First allocation 2024 – awarded to Barbara Tomotani and Mathias Kranz
- Next call will be announced August 2025 – with application deadline January/ February 2026
Every other year the foundation announces thematic initiatives.
- First allocation 2023 (awarded to C-LaBL)
- Sketch competition 2024 – will be announced spring 2025
- Next call for thematic initiatives will be announced 2027
