UiT and TFS continue to focus on women’s sports

We want to increase our knowledge of how hormonal fluctuations affect training response and performance development, says research leader Boye Welde.

Today, research results from men’s studies are the basis for finding the best training methods in endurance sports. Now, with support from TFS, UiT will study how women respond to endurance training where the menstrual cycle and the use of contraception are important factors.

Chairman of the Board of TFS, Sveinung Hole states: “The foundation has for a long time supported sports research at UiT, both with infrastructure and competence building. With good qualifications as world-class female athletes, good facilities and a competent research team with interesting research ideas at UiT, we go a step further and make an effort to cover obvious knowledge gaps in the field of sports physiology.”
