Arctic ABC Fjord is part of a larger programme funded mainly by the Norwegian Research Council – Arctic ABC. The programme include a project that has status as National Research Infrastructure, in which we aim at developing autonomous ice-tethered platforms that can sample and transmit data from the drift ice in the Arctic Ocean. The platforms will have sensors that measure both physical and biological parameters, including light, temperature, salinity, bioacoustics and biomass of primary producers in ice-covered waters. Arctic ABC Fjord will fund the development and deployment of such platforms in fast ice in fjords on Svalbard and Canada.
